Muscat: A caravan of 12 buses carrying more than 200 children with Down syndrome, along with their parents, volunteers and officials, embarked on a week-long journey from Muscat to Salalah and back, spreading awareness and promoting social inclusion.
The ‘Caravan of Goodness’, organised by the Oman Down Syndrome Association (ODSA), aims to raise awareness about Down syndrome, support families of children with special needs and promote their integration into society.
“Many children are unable to interact and mingle with the wider community. This journey is an awareness initiative to show that these children, too, deserve a social life and opportunities to participate,” said Ahmed bin Mohammed al Jabri, Chairman of ODSA.
The convoy includes 12 vehicles, 24 board members and volunteers, with children participating in awareness activities at various locations along the route to Dhofar Governorate and back.
